CYN Youth Events
Goose Stock Summer 2007
One of the successful CYN - HVGB initiatives is the GOOSESTOCK music festival. Held this year at Kinsmen Park, the weather cooperated and the crowds enjoyed a variety of music presented by youth bands and other talented "youth at heart". It's all about the music!!! This event is a great opportunity for youth to showcase their musical talents, and it wouldn't be possible without the assistance of the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Recreation Department.

Teddy Bear Picnic Sept 07
Also held at Kinsmen Park, another successful community event that the CYN hosted this summer, (in partnership with other groups of course ) was the first Teddy Bear Picnic, featuring Terry Rielly. We estimate over 500 people attended this family event and everyone had lots of fun. Hundreds of Teddies were donated for distribution across Labrador and financial proceeds are being donated to the Janeway. Photos are posted in the gallery at http://www.explorelabrador.nf.ca
Photography Course Oct-Nov 07
This program was developed for youth who were interested in brushing up on their photography skills. The program instructor was Chris Sampson, professional photographer/owner of Sampson Photo.
The program went very well with 9 youth attending ranging in age from 12-25. It ran for 6 weeks. Youth were given assignments to show they understood the concepts being taught and prizes of Chris Sampson's own photos were given out during the last class.

Traditional Glove Making Dec 07
This program was a learning experience. It went very well other than that the 3 weeks it ran for wasn't enough time for youth to finish their gloves. We had 4 youth register for this program and Krista Oxford and her husband also took part. They made Traditional Gloves to sell tickets on in the new year as a fundraiser for the Community Youth Network.
Our instructor for this course was Bridgett Nuna from Sheshashui. She was wonderful and very talented.
Thank you to the Ikajuttiget Board, Inc for their generous contribution for this course.
