About the CLEDB
The CLEDB is a not for profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. The economic zone includes the communities of Happy Valley Goose Bay, North West River, Mud Lake and Sheshatshiu. The current mandate of the CLEDB expires on Dec 31st, 2009. The CLEDB works in partnership with local businesses and organizations to strengthen the local economy and community outlook.
CLEDB is a member of Newfoundland and Labrador Regional Economic Development Association (NLREDA).

Route 500-510 now open
The new road link is now open between Goose Bay and Cartwright, on the Atlantic seaboard. Travellers can continue their road trips directly to the Labrador Straits for the ferry crossing of the Strait of Belle Isle from Blanc Sablon, Quebec between May and January. When there is severe weather, portions of this road may be closed to ensure your safety. Please calll for Winter Road conditions and information
SAFETY NEWS - There is NO cell phone service on this long route, but the Provincial Government has a program in place for you to "borrow" a satellite phone for use between Labrador City and Goose Bay and Port Hope Simpson. There is NO FEE for this service. Pick up and drop off points at the hotels in each town. For residents of Newfoundland you must provide a drivers licence or credit card. For non- residents, you must provide a credit card. The phones are only for emergency use and are programmed to enable direct calls to the police.
Satellite phones can now be picked up at the following participating hotels:
Wabush Hotel in Wabush;
Midway Travel Inn in Churchill Falls;
Hotel North Two and Royal Inn and Suites in Happy Valley-Goose Bay; and,
Alexis Hotel in Port Hope Simpson.
