Winterlights Awards
The CLEDB is a proud partner in the national WinterLights celebration, a project of the Canadian Tourism Commission. The Town of Happy Valley Goose Bay was judged, in December, against similar size municipalities across Canada for festive lighting, charitable community activities and active living.

and Winners Circle Award - 5 STARS for Participation in Community Events
AWARDS 2007 Winners Circle - we were presented with the national award for communities under 10,000 population.
AWARDS 2006 SnoBreak was recognized with a 5 STAR rating.
AWARDS 2005 the town was presented with the Stinson Family Award that recognized the tremendous number of volunteers who help make the Labrador Winter Games a huge success.

CLEAN - Central Labrador Environmental Action Network
The CLEDB was pleased to partner with the Environment Canada and the new regional ACAP group (Atlantic Coastal Action Program). The CLEDB administered the contract for CLEAN while this new group awaited official incorporation status. Executive Director, Frank Russell, was temporarily housed with the CLEDB, but has now moved into his permanent office in the North Star Building at 114 Hamilton. You can reach Frank at 896-1704.
Circumpolar Agriculture Conference
Over 120 delegates, from across North America and Europe, participated in the Circumpolar Agriculture Conference in October 2007. Information sessions were held at the newly renovated Hamilton Hotel, and social events were hosted in North West River and Happy Valley Goose Bay. CLEDB staff and Directors assisted with this international event, while the Labrador North Chamber of Commerce led the coordination.
Aerospace Competition
The CLEDB, in partnership with the Town of Happy Valley Goose Bay, 5 Wing Goose Bay and SERCO, hosted the first Canadian Student UAV Competition in May of 2007. This exciting event was a project of UAV Canada. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are often called robots in the sky. Sherbrooke University took first prize in this inaugural Canadian competition. Funding for this event was provided by Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Innovation Trade and Rural Development, and many corporate sponsors.

Big Land Fair Wins Awards
In April 2007, the Big Land Fair was showcased as an outstanding initiative at the National Community Economic Development Conference held in St. John's NL. In 2004, the Big Land Fair was recognized and won a Provincial Award for Innovation in Education and a Municipal Community Award for Excellence Partnerships. The Big Land Fair was started in 1999 by the Canada Career Week committee. The CLEDB is now the lead agency with a group of many dedicated partners who organize and host this event.
