Corporate Citizens
Oustanding Corporate Citizens
Our town is blessed with a generous business community that provides cash and inkind contributions for sports events, school events, festivals and everything you can imagine.

Innu Mikun/Provincial Airlines is a wonderful corporate citizen that sponsors groups and events in our community including: Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life and Daffodil Campaigns, SnoBreak, Amaruk Jr. Golf, Lake Melville Minor Soccer and Labrador Cup, Ducks Unlimited, Mealy Mountain Safe Grad, GooseStock, Them Days, and Goose Bay Curling Club. The company regularly supports benefits that help raise funds for medical travel. On Halloween, the company dressed up the corporate van and drove around town delivering loot bags and Frisbees. And in December, Innu Mikun/Provincial Airlines staff built a float and volunteered in the Santa Claus parade, winning the best Corporate Float Category.
Lewis Concrete Forming is truly appreciated by the members of the sports teams that the company supports. The company pays team registrations, funds travel, supplies uniforms, and hosts team functions. The teams supported include the Labrador Cup, mixed darts, Men's softball, Ladies Broomball, recreation hockey league, Men's indoor soccer league, and Ladies Softball. The company also sponsors a hole in the Crohns and Colitis Annual Golf Tournament, the RCMP annual golf tournament, supports the SnowFlake Figure Skating Club and Labrador Winter Games and is a major contributor to the Labrador Snowmobile Racing Association. Rick Lewis, company president, also donates his time, as a coach and volunteer, and sometimes as a stand in player.

NorthMart is a great corporate citizen and corporate sponsor. The company, under the direction of manager Dave Pelley, sponsors many school programs and events including a scholarship at Mealy Mountain Collegiate, the Spring Fling at Peacock, the Kids Breakfast program and the Heritage Fairs. The company contributes to over a hundred other causes locally, with the contribution of cash, merchandise and discounts including Christmas Dinner for one of the winners of the Winterlights home lighting and decorating contest. Provincially, the company contributes to the Janeway, Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, Cancer Society and nationally to the Canadian Diabetes Association. And we can't forget that Northmart employs over 60 local students (almost half its staff) and provides them with training in customer service and encourages a strong work ethic.

Air Labrador supports community events that enhance the quality of life for citizens of Happy Valley Goose Bay. The company provides airfare for a world class adjudicator to participate in the Lake Melville Music Festival each year. The company supports the Lake Melville Xtreme Minor Hockey Association with cash contributions and airline tickets that are used as a fundraiser. Other events supported by Air Labrador include the Teddy Bear Picnic, Santa's annual visit to the Coast of Labrador, the Kids Eat Smart Program, the Lung Association, Crime Stoppers, and the Creative Arts Festival. Phillip Earle answers the requests for donations with a smile and support. The community appreciates the contributions of this company.
