The following link is the final report from a study undertaken by 5 Zone Boards from Central Labrador to Western Newfoundland exploring opportunities for business starts or expansions related to the completion of the road link between Goose Bay and Cartwright Junction Route 510.

Route 500-510 now open
The new road link is now open between Goose Bay and Cartwright, on the Atlantic seaboard. Travellers can continue their road trips directly to the Labrador Straits for the ferry crossing of the Strait of Belle Isle from Blanc Sablon, Quebec between May and January.

SAFETY NEWS - There is NO cell phone service on this long route, but the Provincial Government has a program in place for you to "borrow" a satellite phone for use between Labrador City and Goose Bay and L'Anse au Clair. There is NO FEE for this service. Pick up and drop off points at the hotels in each town. For residents of Newfoundland you must provide a drivers licence or credit card. For non- residents, you must provide a credit card. The phones are only for emergency use and are programmed to enable direct calls to the police.

Satellite phones can now be picked up at the following participating hotels:
• Wabush Hotel in Wabush;
• Midway Travel Inn in Churchill Falls;
• Hotel North Two and Royal Inn and Suites in Happy Valley-Goose Bay; and,
• Alexis Hotel in Port Hope Simpson
• Town Office in Charlottetown;
• Riverlodge Hotel in Mary's Harbour; and,
• Northern Light Inn in L'Anse au Clair.
 
NEW Iqaluit Goose Bay Air Service
Exploits Valley Air Services Ltd. (EVAS Air) has announced a new scheduled charter flight service between Gander, Newfoundland and Iqaluit, Nunavut. Passengers will also be able to travel between Goose Bay and Iqaluit. The inaugural flight will depart Gander on Sunday, June 5th. The plane will travel each Sunday throughout the summer and follow this flight path sequence: Gander – Goose Bay – Iqaluit, Iqaluit – Goose Bay – Gander. Passengers will be allowed to travel between Gander and Iqaluit, and Goose Bay and Iqaluit.
Price:Return: $1,750.00 +HST, One Way: $995.00 +HST
